In the 1st time of ours, we figured out the way to "listen" to the messages of plant's tastes. In lesson 2, about simples and water-based herbal remedies. In the last, I distinguished secure (nourishing and tonifying) herbs from far more dangerous (stimulating and sedating) herbs. Our fourth lesson centered on poisons; we created tinctures and an Herbal Medicine Chest. Our fifth dealt with herbal vinegars, and the sixth with organic oils.
In this, our seventh session, we are going to think about how we think about healing.

THE 3 TRADITIONS OF HEALING

THE 3 TRADITIONS OF HEALING
There are several ways to use herbs to improve and maintain health. Modern medicine uses highly refined herbal products referred to as drugs. Holistic practitioners or many alternative suggest herbs, usually in less-refined (and much less dangerous) styles including tinctures or homeopathic remedies. And then there are the yarb women, the wise females, who integrate herbs into the daily diet of theirs and claim far reaching results for straightforward remedies.

I call these 3 different approaches the Scientific, Kratom (just click the next document) Heroic, and Wise Woman traditions.
These 3 traditions are ways of thinking, not ways of acting. And they are not confined to herbs. Any technique, any chemical can be used by a healer in the Scientific, Heroic, and Wise Woman traditions. You'll find, in particular, naturopaths, midwives, and MDs in each and every tradition, as well as herbalists, therapists, educators, even politicians.
